Wings learns what "cookie" means

Wings the horse loves horse cookies. And now, she knows the English word for it.

One time, she was standing at the top of the mare pasture, eating her breakfast hay.

Natalie: "Wings!"

Wings: (looks up, acknowledges I called her, goes back to eating).

Natalie: "Bucket!" *'buckets' are buckets filled with grain and usually a supplement or medication of some kind. Most horses love to eat their buckets. Wings likes her bucket*

Wings: (Turns around from her hay. Pays attention.)

Natalie: "Cookies!"

Wings: (leaves hay and speed walks down towards me.)

Another time she had just recovered from an injury to her leg and we wanted her to walk and trot around the arena to see if she was all the way better. Wings got really excited (she hadn't been exercised for a while before) and started cantering. We were worried she would hurt herself, but she wouldn't stop.

Natalie: "Wings!"

Wings: (Ignores)

Natalie: "Wings! Stop! WINGS!"

Wings: (Still ignores)

Natalie: "Cookies!!!"

Wings: (Slammes on the brakes, turns around, and walks toward me expectantly)

Visiting

Last weekend we visited one of our cousins. We walked to the beach (it wasn't very far, you could easily walk too it).

We climbed a lot of  the rocks around the beach.

We also found some sea creatures.

And some weird looking ones.

On our way back from the beach, we met one of the cats that lived around the area. Apparently she is a great hunter.

Jumping Jax!

On Saturday, Jax came over to visit!

We ran, played fetch, played chase, did training, and last, worked on teaching him to jump through a hoop (which was why I called this post "Jumping Jax").

In most of the pictures I took of Jax, he had one ear up, like this. This was one of the better pictures I got.

And finally, Jumping Jax

Sedona's new haircut

A few weeks ago, I learned how to clip a horse (which is basically shaving off their winter coat).

We clip horses in the winter because they grow a thick winter coat, and have a hard time cooling down after exercise (If it gets to cold at night, they wear a blanket).

Happy Halloween!

This year for Halloween, I was a Greek warrior.

I took Halloween pictures of each of our kitties posing next to a Jack-o-lantern.

Buddy was the easiest to photograph. He was willing to sit next to the pumpkin decoration, and he was not scared of it. In this photo, he saw a spot on the wall and thought it was a spider. He wanted to catch the spider.

Nono was the next easiest. At first, he was scared of the decoration, but after a while, he became too curious and decided to check it out.

Coale was the hardest. He was convinced the pumpkin was terrifying, and refused to go near. We had to put treats on top of the pumpkin for him to look at it and stand close.

We carved pumpkins yesterday. As usual, I carved a cat.

Three

Lately I've been taking a lot of pictures of our kitties sitting together.

I was surprised to see them all sitting like this. Usually when they are in my parent's bedroom, Buddy is on the bedside table, trying to jump out if someone opens the door (he hates being in one room for a long time), Noel and Coale are usually sleeping together on the bed, or sitting on the floor. I've never seen all three of them in a row on the bed.

The next night(isn), there were three in a row in my bedroom.

And then I saw them in a row, again.

Last night, when I was making them wet food, I tried to take a group picture of them.

After about ten minutes of group picture kitty shots, I got two okay pictures. Buddy kept moving, NoNo kept getting scared and walking away, and Coale kept giving me this annoyed, unamused look, or he looked the other way.

This picture is a good example of what a lot of pictures.

Rats!

One of my close friends from school has three pet rats. She couldn't watch them on Tuesday and Wednesday, so we rat-sitted them.

This is Marshmallow. He is a Siamese rat, so he kind of looks like a Siamese cat (Note the dark face. He has a dark tail too).

This is Jezebel. She (obviously) likes peanut butter.

This is Cory. He is albino, and likes peanut butter too.

Jezy and Cory are close friends. Here they are climbing on my sister.

I found this awesome piece of cardboard in the garage. I don't know what it is from, but it is like a    pre-built rat maze.

Horse Helping (after a long time!)

Between the crazy weekend two weeks ago, and being sick last weekend, I haven't gone to horse for a while. So today was my first day riding in two weeks (which is a lot for me).

I rode Sedona today. She got a huge work out. We round pinned her, and rode her for three lessons. After going on rides, Sedona likes to rub her face against her hay bag, which you can see in the background. Today, since it was a long work out, I guess she had to rub even more.

I found this movie of Sedona running from last winter.

Sick

From Thursday to Sunday, I was sick (which is my excuse for not blogging over the weekend). But thanks to they help of three kitties (and oregano oil) I'm better now! Buddy slept with me on the couch for most of the time.

The kitty crew

Some things that have been happening latey
  • My trumpet got a bath
  • Nono is talking right now and it's really loud and annoying. Coale is concerned about his brother.

  • Our Uncle came to visit on Thursday and is leaving tomorrow
  • Nono just stopped meowing
  • We took our first math test on Friday

Stand up Paddle boarding

I got the pictures from the stand up paddle boarding and kayaking day.

Stand up paddle boarding.

This is my favorite picture.

Since I don't have any pictures of me kayaking, here's the next best thing. A picture of me stand up paddle boarding being photo bombed by a kayak paddle!

During my the stand up paddle boarding trip, I completed two goals. One, I didn't fall off my paddle board. Two, I touched a bee and did not get stung.

And I still need to get my camp pictures.

Back to School

We went back to school last week. I'm blogging because I made a new goal to blog once a week on during the school year (which so far, I haven't done so good on).

Nothing that interesting happened at school the last week. We started playing in Advanced Band (that is now called Wind Symphony because it sounds more formal and professional), we took our first math test (I hope I did okay), and we did a neighborhood run (which is basically a 1.5 +or- a bit mile run around the outside of the school campus).

Last Saturday, one of my sisters had a birthday party. At the party, we did tie dye (which is always fun and a bit messy).

I tie dyed a shirt.

I used red tie dye because I wanted a red shirt, but it turned out pink. Oh well.

And I also tie died socks.

I love socks.

On Sunday, I went stand up paddle boarding and kayaking with a friend from school.
I don't have the pictures from her yet, but I will post them when I get them.

One of my new favorite things to do now is tie die, even though I've only done it twice.

I'm home!

I'm back from camp! I got home yesterday afternoon. This is not my official blog post about my time because I do not have the pictures (I brought a disposable camera, but I haven't had the photos developed yet)

At camp, I made friends, tie dyed, made s'mores, had a cookout, built fires, rock climbed and zip lined, and did archery.

I'm sad to leave camp, but I'm happy to be home (and so is Buddy).

He gets sad when I leave. Fortunately, he didn't get sick this time (he has a nose problem and stress doesn't help), so he didn't have to take his pill.

Apparently, Motormouth thought I abandoned him.

I'm at Camp!

To: Home
From: Me (The extremely amazing)

Dear people reading this (hopefully including Mom, Dad, sisters, Buddy, Noel and Coale (don't make them read it if they don't want to sisters (hey I'm doing parentheses in parentheses in parentheses (Cool!) and another one), Chelsea. I'm at camp right now. My mom knows how I made a blog post while I was at camp. I am (hopefully) in a tent with my friends.

Yeah I know it's blurry but I like this picture (because I'm actually smiling, not fake smiling for the camera).

Tell Buddy I miss him, he's probably upset. How have the kitties been at night? Has Buddy taken his pill nicely (if he needs it, which he hopefully won't)

Speaking of Buddy, here's a picture of him I got the other day.

I'll be home in... (doing math in head) 3 days (counting today).

Does this count as my letter home, we don't need to use a stamp, or paper or send it and hope it comes before I get home…

I'll probably write one. If I remember to bring paper, envelopes, and (real) stamps.

P.S.
Like my stamp?

Last Day Before Camp!

Today was my last day at horse before going to to an overnight summer camp with my friends from school. Today's horse section of the day was crazy. I had to exercise them in the morning around the time the horses would get their buckets (grain) and Motormouth would get his food. I lunged Sedona and then Wings. I took Sedona back to her stall first, which was a big mistake. Wings thinks she has to be taken first, whether it's for her bucket, for exercise, or for hanging out in Sedona's stall. She was whinnying loudly and she got herself stressed out. She was pacing in front of the gate and she pooped. While I was taking Sedona back, I thought she was hurt she was being so loud and upset. After I got her back to the stall, I didn't have any buckets (or cat food) ready, so I had three hungry and impatient (and very loud) horses (and cat) waiting. Fortunately, after everybody got their food, everybody was happy, quiet, and non-moving while they ate so I could clean the stall with them out of the way.

Afterward, I had time to groom Sedona. I brushed out her mane.

Tomorrow, I leave for camp. I should probably finish packing, or eat lunch… But I won't be at a computer for at least 6 days.

Buddy always gets so sad when he sees my suitcase or when I leave for camp or vacation.
